SHOWING YOUR HOME

Once you get everything in shape we need to get ready to show your house to potential buyers.  Remember, first impressions are lasting so we need to set the right mood and atmosphere when bringing a buyer through.  Here are some tips for showing your house:

bullet

Before a showing create a cheerful atmosphere by opening drapes and curtains.  Turn on all lights.  Lighting accents wood trimmings.  Make sure the temperature is comfortable throughout the house, and be sure it smells inviting.

bullet

Avoid having too many people present.  Buyers may feel like intruders and hurry through.

bullet

Unless pets are quiet, peaceful and well behaved get them out of the way.

bullet

Soft background music may be acceptable but turn off blaring stereos, radios and televisions.  They only make discussions difficult.

bullet

Silence is golden.  You don't want to distract the buyers from inspecting the house.

bullet

Make sure all valuables are put away somewhere safe.  Unfortunately thefts sometimes happen when homes are being viewed.  A woman should hide her purse and a man should remember not to leave his wallet on the dresser.  Decide which small valuable objects you need to put away.

bullet

It's a good idea to stay in the background or even out of the house.  The buyer feels more comfortable and I can point out the significant features of your home.

Your house is looking its best.  The showing went great.  The buyers may be interested.  Now prepare yourself to receive an offer.
